Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Unveils Squad for Afghanistan Test; Litton Kumer Das to Lead
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Test match against Afghanistan. The match is scheduled to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The Afghanistan Test side is set to arrive on June 10, with the match commencing on June 14.
Due to a hand injury sustained during the Ireland ODI series last month, regular captain Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out. In his absence, Litton Kumer Das will take charge of the Bangladesh side.
The squad includes two uncapped players who have caught the selectors’ attention. Shahadat Hossain Dipu, a batsman from Chattogram Division, has shown promise since making his first-class debut in 2021. With two centuries and ten half-centuries, Dipu has amassed 1265 runs in 20 first-class games.
Mushfik Hasan, a 20-year-old paceman from Rangpur Division, has made an impact since his debut in the 2022 first-class season. With three five-wicket hauls to his name, Hasan has taken 49 wickets in 13 matches.
Both Dipu and Hasan recently represented the Bangladesh A side in the unofficial Test series against West Indies A.
