The 23-year-old Theekshana sustained a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s Super Four victory over Pakistan, jeopardizing his participation in the prestigious 50-over tournament final scheduled for Sunday. The final serves as a precursor to the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.

Addressing reporters on the eve of the title showdown in Colombo, Captain Shanaka revealed the extent of Theekshana’s injury, stating, “He won’t be able to take part in this game since he got a Grade 3 injury, but he will be there for the World Cup.”

Theekshana had been a pivotal figure in the Sri Lankan bowling attack, securing eight wickets in five matches. His absence will be felt as Sri Lanka looks to clinch their seventh Asia Cup title. In the interim, top-order batsman Sahan Arachchige will fill the void in the squad while Theekshana undergoes rehabilitation, according to Sri Lanka Cricket.
