Bangladesh Test and T20I captain, Shakib Al Hasan, who has been recuperating from a finger injury, took a positive step forward by bowling with a short run-up at the outer nets of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium indoor premises in Mirpur on Thursday.

The esteemed all-rounder has been diligently focusing on his fitness in recent days and was observed working closely with Tigers’ spin coach Rangana Herath.

Despite fracturing his non-bowling index finger, Shakib showcased his dedication to the rehabilitation process by engaging in bowling activities with a shortened run-up during the session.

Encouragingly, Shakib’s recovery is progressing well, and the team management remains optimistic about his potential return for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan next month.

“I have reviewed his X-ray, and it appeared positive. We are hopeful that he will be fit to participate in the forthcoming ODI series,” stated Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), during today’s media briefing.

The 36-year-old sustained the finger injury during the second match of the three-match ODI series against Ireland in Chelmsford last month, leading to his subsequent withdrawal from the ongoing solitary Test against Afghanistan.
