“Noteworthy Statement: India’s Coach Responds to Pakistan’s ICC Protest”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently made a noteworthy move by formally complaining to the International Cricket Council (ICC) about multiple issues, including visa problems for their journalists and fans. In contrast, India’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, chose not to discuss these concerns during a pre-match press conference for the Cricket World Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh.

Mhambrey’s Visa Issuance Evasion

When asked about the PCB’s objections, Paras Mhambrey chose to avoid the subject, claiming that it was outside his area of competence. “Honestly, I am the wrong person to answer that question,” he said.. To be honest, I’ve never heard of what you’re referring to. “I cannot provide an answer because it is not within my domain,” Mhambrey told reporters during the press briefing.

PCB Makes a Twitter Announcement

In response, the PCB used social media, notably the platform X (previously Twitter), to issue a public statement. They highlighted their dissatisfaction with the delayed issuing of visas for Pakistani journalists as well as the lack of a visa policy for Pakistani supporters attending the ongoing World Cup 2023. Furthermore, the PCB filed an official complaint against the Pakistan squad for suspected inappropriate behavior during the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match on October 14, 2023.

Mohammed Shami’s Exclusion, According to Mhambrey

Apart from the visa issue, questions were also raised about the tough choice to leave Mohammed Shami out of India’s team for the first three matches of the tournament. Mhambrey clarified that this decision was based on strategic factors. He explained, “Honestly, it’s always a difficult choice. But our discussions center on our clear communication with him. When we select our team, our messages are straightforward. We choose a team that we believe suits the playing conditions best. Sometimes, you have to miss out. It’s the same for a high-caliber player like Shami and others like Ashwin. Our communication with him is clear. It’s a challenging decision, despite his valuable skills with the new ball or at the end. But you have to make these choices because only eleven players can play.” Paras Mhambrey conveyed these thoughts during a press conference in Pune.
