Babar Azam - Pakistan's Run Machine

Babar Azam, a two-time ICC Men’s Player of the Month, seeks his third win after his nomination for August 2023. The world’s top-ranked batter in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings maintained his exceptional form from the previous month, with two fifties and a century.

In the second ODI against Afghanistan, Babar played a crucial role in a thrilling last-over victory, contributing 53 runs in partnership with Imam-ul-Haq. He then followed it up with another vital 60, aiding Pakistan in securing a 3-0 series win.

His stellar form extended to the Asia Cup, where he scored a remarkable 151 against Nepal, becoming the quickest player in history to reach 19 ODI centuries. This ton also tied him with legends Javed Miandad and Saeed Anwar for the most centuries (31) across all formats for Pakistan.

Shadab Khan - Pakistan's Versatile All-Rounder

Pakistan’s star all-rounder, Shadab Khan, earned his Player of the Month nomination with impactful contributions in August. In the opening ODI against Afghanistan, he scored 39 and took a crucial wicket as Pakistan sealed victory.

In the second ODI, Shadab’s 48 off 35 balls earned him the Player of the Match award, propelling Pakistan to a thrilling win. He continued to shine with the ball, finishing the series with figures of 3/42.

Shadab’s form carried into the Asia Cup, where he picked up four wickets against Nepal, showcasing his spin prowess.

Nicholas Pooran - West Indies' Game-Changer

Nicholas Pooran made waves in August, helping West Indies secure a T20I series win against India. In the first T20I, he played a measured innings of 41, contributing to a thrilling four-run victory. His explosive 67 in the second T20I was laced with boundaries, taking the game away from India.

Although he faced setbacks in the subsequent matches, Pooran returned with a crucial 47 in the final match, guiding West Indies to an eight-wicket win.

With 176 runs at a strike rate of 141.93, Pooran was named Player of the Series, ending as the highest run-scorer.

These exceptional players are now in contention for the prestigious ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for August 2023.
