New Zealand has chosen its team for the upcoming two-test series in Bangladesh, which marks the start of the third cycle of the World Test Championship. Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson, and Rachin Ravindra have been recalled to the squad.

Mitchell Santner is back in the squad after two years, having performed well in the Plunket Shield this season, taking 15 wickets and averaging 52 with the bat for Northern Districts. He last played for New Zealand in 2021 against England. He joins Ajaz Patel and Ish Sodhi as the main spinners for New Zealand’s first Test tour of Bangladesh in a decade.

Kyle Jamieson returns to the squad after recovering from back surgery in February. He will be part of the pace attack alongside captain Tim Southee and the fit-again Matt Henry. New Zealand’s spin options are further strengthened by all-rounders Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips.

The team’s selector, Sam Wells, mentioned, “With Ajaz, Ish, Mitch, Glenn, and Rachin, we have a strong spin group that will provide various options during the series.”

Head coach Gary Stead will not be part of the tour, as he is preparing for a busy home summer after the ODI World Cup. His assistant, Luke Ronchi, will lead the team. The first Test is scheduled to start on November 27.
