Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has spoken highly of Indian batsman Virat Kohli, highlighting how the 34-year-old sets an example for others with his strong work ethic.
The fierce rivalry between India and Australia has witnessed some exceptional cricket over the years, and it often brings out the sportsmanship when both sides acknowledge the talent of the players they have. As fans eagerly await the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23 between India and Australia at The Oval in England on June 7, Hazlewood, who had to cut short his IPL campaign due to injury, is looking forward to giving his best in the crucial match.
Hazlewood shared his admiration for Kohli, stating, “I think it’s probably how hard he works that stands out.” He further emphasized Kohli’s commitment to fitness, skill work, batting, and fielding. “He is always out there training first and leaves last… The intensity at which he trains all the time is at such a high level that it motivates everyone else. It has a positive impact on other players and helps elevate their performance.”
Hazlewood has an impressive record against India, with more five-wicket hauls in Tests against them than any other nation. His performances in England have also been commendable, with 36 wickets from eight matches at an imposing average of 23.58.
It is worth noting that Hazlewood made his Test debut against India at The Gabba in Brisbane in 2014 and has played more Test matches against the Indian team (15) than any other side.
