The Jaipur-based cricket team, in an official statement on their website, shared their understanding of Joe Root’s choice not to participate in IPL 2024. Kumar Sangakkara, the Director of Cricket for the team, recognized Root’s positive influence and short-term impact on the group.

“In our discussions about player retention, Joe let us know that he won’t be part of IPL 2024,” mentioned Sangakkara. “Even though he was with us for a brief time, Joe made a positive impact on the team and his presence influenced everyone around him. We respect his decision completely and wish him success in all his endeavors,” added the Sri Lankan veteran.

With Root and Ben Stokes opting out, there’s now a gap in the overseas players for the Royals. The team has replaced Devdutt Padikkal with Indian fast bowler Avesh Khan, through a trade with Lucknow Super Giants.
