As Pakistan unveiled their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq opened up about the possibility of the retired fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, staging a return to the Pakistan cricket team.

Clarifying Amir's Current Status

During a press conference held in Lahore, Inzamam addressed the media and made it clear that Mohammad Amir was not part of the squad due to his retirement from international cricket.

“While Amir has been a phenomenal cricketer, he made the decision to retire from international cricket. If he has aspirations to represent Pakistan again, he must first engage in first-class cricket and demonstrate his skills there. If he performs well, he will certainly be under consideration. The door to selection remains open for any player,” Inzamam stated.

Opportunities for Others

Inzamam further emphasized that the same principles apply to other players like Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shan Masood, and Imad Wasim. Their chances of returning to the national team hinge on their performance in domestic cricket.
