As India secures its spot in the Asia Cup final following convincing victories against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, coach Paras Mhambrey acknowledges the “problem of plenty” in their bowling arsenal, which bodes well for their campaign in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

India’s bowlers have been in stellar form during the Asia Cup, most notably in the match against Pakistan, where they bowled out their arch-rivals for just 128 runs.

Mhambrey expressed his satisfaction, stating, “A problem of plenty is always good, we have four quality bowlers out there, we have great options.” The pace attack is spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, and it also features the likes of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and the versatile all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

India’s bowling depth extends to their spin department as well, with Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav adding to their formidable lineup.

Mhambrey emphasized that the choice of the bowling combination will hinge on various factors, including the playing surface and the opposition.

While India’s senior players have shone in the Asia Cup, the team also remains committed to nurturing its emerging talents. Up-and-coming batsman Tilak Varma and T20 sensation Suryakumar Yadav were seen training in the nets ahead of their last Super Four match against Bangladesh in Colombo.

Mhambrey remained tight-lipped about the final lineup but hinted at the possibility of giving playing time to other squad members since they’ve already secured a place in the final.

“We haven’t decided on what we will do, but obviously there is an opportunity to give a game to other players since we have qualified for the final,” said the former medium-pace bowler.
