In an official statement, the PCB stated, “Haris Rauf will not be bowling any further in the Asia Cup Super 4 match against India as a precautionary measure. He felt a little discomfort in his right flank during the match yesterday.” The statement also mentioned that Rauf underwent an MRI, which revealed no tear, and he is now under the observation of the team’s medical panel.

Insight from Bowling Coach Morne Morkel

Pakistan’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, elaborated on the situation, stating that Rauf began experiencing discomfort in his oblique muscle the previous night. A scan indicated inflammation. Given the upcoming World Cup, the decision to exclude Rauf from bowling is precautionary, and other players will be called upon to fill the bowling quota.

Haris Rauf's Remarkable Performance

Haris Rauf has been a standout performer in the ongoing Asia Cup, leading the wickets tally with nine scalps from his first three games. In the India-Pakistan match, he took three crucial wickets. Alongside Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, Rauf is considered one of the best pace bowlers heading into the ODI World Cup next month. Together, they have amassed 68 wickets in the 50-overs format this year, making them a formidable trio.
