Women’s IPL started on Saturday. Gujarat Giants faced Mumbai Indians in the opening match of this T20 franchise tournament. Delhi won by 143 runs by 207 runs in the first match of the season. Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Delhi Capitals in the second match on Sunday. A video was posted on Bengaluru’s official Twitter account on Saturday, the day before their first match. Bangalore mentor Sania Mirza spoke about the team there.
She said, “I don’t know anything about cricket. When I was made a mentor in women’s IPL, I was thinking, what should I do? What to talk about with the girls?” Sania, who retired last month after playing tennis for two decades, also said, “I retired a few days ago. Wondering what is the next step in my life. No decision then, to help women athletes in India and outside India, the mental aspect is very important in any sport which I have dealt with for 20 years.”
This tennis star also said that she was in individual sports. Because of that, the photo shoots, the media attention – everything had to be handled by herself. From there she thought that she could help girls in this matter. ‘Feeling stressed is normal, but you need to know how to deal with it. Learn to stay away from the noise around you. India’s media is difficult to manage.’ she said.
