Australia: In the first match, despite ending up on the losing side, Australia displayed commendable batting prowess after being asked to bat first. Their batting order performed exceptionally, amassing a total of 208 runs in 20 overs. Josh Inglis stole the show, notching his first T20 century with a remarkable 110 runs off 50 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and eight towering sixes. Steven Smith also contributed significantly, scoring a composed 52 runs from 41 balls, including eight boundaries. Tim David remained unbeaten with 19 runs, while Matthew Short managed 13 runs.
However, Australia’s downfall came through their bowling unit. They struggled to defend the target of 209 runs, conceding the required total within 19.5 overs. Tanveer Sangha emerged as the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets in his four overs despite conceding 47 runs. Jason Behrendorff showcased a good performance, securing one wicket while conceding 25 runs in his spell. Matthew Short picked one wicket but was a touch expensive, giving away 13 runs in his one over.
