Chennai Super Kings to be without Stokes for IPL 2023 playoffs against Gujarat Titans

Chennai Super Kings will have to navigate through the IPL 2023 playoffs without the services of all-rounder Ben Stokes. The England captain is set to join the national camp ahead of their one-off Test match against Ireland, which begins on June 1.

Stokes, who was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping Rs 16.25 crore, had a limited impact in the tournament due to injury. He only managed to play two matches, scoring just 15 runs and bowling one over, conceding 18 runs.

CSK shared a post on their social media, bidding farewell to Stokes and wishing him luck for his national duties. England’s one-off Test against Ireland serves as preparation for their crucial Ashes series against Australia.

Before the Ashes, Australia will face India in the World Test Championship Final at The Oval, starting on June 7. Meanwhile, CSK will face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 on May 23 at their home ground. They secured their spot in the top four after a victory against Delhi Capitals in their last league match.

Lucknow Super Giants have also qualified for the IPL 2023 playoffs, while the opponent for their Eliminator match on May 24 will be determined after the clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans, as well as the match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Sunday.
