In the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan (PAK) is set to face off against Bangladesh (BAN) in the 7th match. This exciting encounter will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on September 6. Pakistan has participated in two matches thus far, securing victory in one and leading the Group A standings. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has also played two matches, winning one and losing another, currently holding the second position in Group B.
In Pakistan’s recent clash with India, India won the toss and chose to bat. While India’s innings had a promising start, it was interrupted by rain. This interruption turned the tide in Pakistan’s favor as they swiftly took three wickets, dismissing key players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer. Shaheen Afridi quickly removed Shubman Gill, putting India in a precarious position. However, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya formed a crucial partnership that not only stabilized India’s innings but also put them in a strong position. India concluded their innings with a total of 266 runs on the board, but due to persistent rain, the second innings couldn’t commence, resulting in a no-result.
In Bangladesh’s previous encounter against Afghanistan, they won the toss and opted to bat. Capitalizing on favorable batting conditions, Bangladesh got off to a flying start and maintained their momentum throughout the innings. Both Mehidy Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto scored centuries, contributing significantly to their team’s cause. An impressive finish towards the end ensured that every aspect of their batting performance was exemplary, and they posted a commanding total of 334 runs. Afghanistan, on the other hand, had a sluggish start and struggled to build substantial partnerships. In the latter stages of their innings, they lost wickets consistently and were eventually bowled out for 245, resulting in an 89-run victory for Bangladesh.
