The Dubai International stadium has hosted the finals of recently held Desert T20 Challenge and  also the finals of PSL. The West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will miss the Pakistan Super League following an injury in the Big Bash League. Jason Roy, the England openning batsman is selected in the Qalanders squad for Bravo. Australian spinner Chris Green is replacing Shaun Tait. It is the first foreign league for Chris Green. Shaun Tait is the another injured player sitting out of the tournament. Kiwi all-rounder James Franklin has been called in, he will be replacing Anton Devcich. A big change has come afront as the captaincy has been given to Brendon McCullum. Azhar Ali, the former home side captain will also be a crucial player in the team.

The young batsman Umar Akmal exhibited great performance with the bat in the previous matches. He was undoubtedly the best batsman for the team. For this season, to uplift the team from the harrowing defeat of the previous season, Brendon McCullum has been bought in. McCullum is famous for smashing the ball to all corners of the park. The pace bowler Sohail Tanvir has a huge bowling experience. His pace attack will surely add power in the bowling line of Qalanders.

Recent Form

Lahore Qalandars won merely two games from their eight in the last season. They finished at the  bottom of the points table of PSL 2016. This year the team has come up with many new players and is comparatively looking strong. They will surely put in their best efforts this time and try to erase the ignominy of the previous season.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Parera replaces England player David Willey, Willey got injured during his contest with India. Mahmudullah Riad is in place of West Indian captain Carlos Brathwaite. Following the commitments made to his domestic side, Carlos Brathwaite has decided not to play in PSL for Gladiators. England player Moeen Ali has taken a back step due to his personal reasons. Rovam Powell has been excluded from the squad. Mohammad Nabi has wished to sit out. Therefore to the empty slots are filled by Nathan McCullum and Rilee Rossouw.

Kevin Pietersen showed a lot of nerve with his bat. His remarkable performance throughout the PSL contest helped Gladiators reach the finals. Ahmed Shehzad gave a fine performance in the finals. Lankan Thisara Parera and New Zealand bowler Nathan McCllum are the bowlers to be watched in action. Mohammad Nawaz took three wickets in the final for Gladiators.
