Coronavirus has hit the Indian cricket team ahead of the start of the Test match against England. Team captain Rohit Sharma has been infected with corona. This was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a tweet on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, Rohit tested positive for corona. The Indian batter has already been sent to isolation.
The Indian cricket team is currently on a tour of England. Rohit Sharma played in the preparatory match but did not come out to bat on Saturday. However, the team lost seven wickets. He scored 25 runs in the first innings. Roman Walker dismissed him. He also went out to the field on the second day.
The Test against England starts at Edgbaston on July 1. Whether Rohit will be able to recover before that, that is the question now. Team India is not getting their regular opener, Lokesh Rahul, in this Test. He was injured in the groin.
Last year, India toured England. But the corona infection occurred in team India’s camp. As a result, the series was suspended in the middle. Cricketers are back in the country. Rohit Sharma has now gone back to England to play the only Test remaining in the series.
