
Bangladesh got a bitter taste of the third consecutive defeat in the tri-nation T20 series. The Tigers lost to hosts New Zealand by 48 runs in Christchurch today. Bangladesh managed to score 160 runs for 7 wickets in the target of 209 runs given by New Zealand.
Captain Shakib Al Hasan fought alone for Bangladesh in the run chase. He played an innings of 70 runs in 44 balls. His innings included one six and three fours. Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar both scored 23 runs each. 11 runs came from opener Nazmul Shanto’s bat.
Adam Milne took three wickets for 24 runs for the Kiwis. Tim Southee and Michael Bracewell took two wickets each.
Earlier, the Kiwis scored 208 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Glenn Phillips scored 60 runs in just 24 balls. Opener Devon Conway scored 64 runs in 40 balls. The other opener Finn Allen collected 32 off 19 balls.
Bangladesh has lost three out of three matches in the tri-series. So There was no possibility of Shakib playing in the final. Pakistan has won two out of three matches, while the Kiwis have won three in four matches. Pakistan and New Zealand will take on each other in the final on Friday. Bangladesh will face Pakistan in the match on Thursday.
