Bangladesh defeated India in the first ODI of the three-match series. Chasing a target of 187 runs set by India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday, the Tigers won by one wicket.
Their pair anchored Bangladesh in the port of victory with 4 overs remaining. Miraz remained unbeaten on 38 off 39 balls and Mustafiz remained unbeaten on 10 off 11 balls.
Bangladesh did not have a good start to the run chase. Opener Nazmul Hossain Shanto caught Rohit Sharma in the first ball of the Bangladesh innings by Deepak Chahar. Enamul Haque, who came down to three, could not take advantage of the victory. He returned with 14 runs in 29 balls. Bangladesh’s acting captain Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan took the lead after losing two wickets for 26 runs. The two added 48 runs for the third wicket. Liton was then dismissed for 41 off 63 balls with six and three fours.
Shakib also returned shortly after the departure of the acting captain. The all-rounder scored 29 runs off 38 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah added 33 runs for the fifth wicket. Then both Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah left. Mushi’s bat came from 18, while Mahmudullah’s contribution was 14.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s acting captain Liton Das won the toss and invited India to bat. Shakib Al Hasan and Ebadat Hossain bowled out Team India for just 186 runs. Lokesh Rahul scored the highest 73 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 27 runs from the bat. Apart from this, Shreyas Iyer scored 24 and Washington Sundar scored 19 runs.
Star batsman Virat Kohli managed to score only 9 runs. Shakib took 5 wickets for 36 runs. Pacer Ebadat Hossain took 4 wickets for 47 runs.
